International school recruiting

Some personal experiences would be very helpful.

Provided one has the appropriate credentials and a work permit, is it possible to get a job teaching at an international school here applying from Switzerland, or do you need to go to teacher recruitment fairs?

Thank you for any insight.

Yes we can.

Re: International school recruiting

Recruitment varies from school to school. Some use the job fairs ( Search Associates etc) others get enough cv's sent to them, or referals from existing staff, to be able to recruit that way and others advertise in various international publications eg: TIE, TES, CIS, etc) I have taught in nine different countries ( all International schools) and never been to a job fair. Best of luck in you search.

Re: International school recruiting

My guess: International Schools in Switzerland have legaly to prove that they advertised the position in the country because of immigration later on in the process. The easiest way is on their own website.

Gamble: I know one director who hates getting CVs sent without ref to a posted position, and another one who loves it. You need a coin to decide?

EDIT: in Swiss schools, apply only when there is a position you are officially qualified for, it be you know the right person inside.

Re: International school recruiting

Yes, a lot of the private and international schools in the GE/VD region advertise in the local papers. Most I've seen require that you already have the required permits, right to work, etc., so yes they are searching locally.
