| | Waiting for job interview result
Hi
I had appeared for a job interview in the last week of January. The HR said will let me know by next week.I still have not got any call or mail.
Just wanted to know how long should I wait for the result.
Or should I mail them and ask
Thanx for the help in advance

Hello mate, I'm no expert in this. But generally I think if anything, it's not hassling them if you call, it shows your still keen, plus it's less easy to ignore if you speak to them directly.
Also, you can ask for feedback if it didn't go your way, and that's always useful to have (if a bit depressing to receive at the time).
So, give them a bell today.
Fingers crossed for you anyway.

I would call the HR deparment rather than email--that way you'll know and not have to wait for the inevitable call back.
Good luck with it!

You should call. If you haven't got it you will know straight away, but there could be a good reason they haven't called (there's lots of flu around, for example). Pluck up your courage, put a smile on your face and give them a call. Good luck

No I wouldn't call. Instead write them a thank you email for the interview and develop one or two points that you noted during the meeting explaining what you could do to make a difference in this position and what expertise you could bring the company.
They have 100s of CVs, if you wished to get noticed, your CV and interview should stand out.

Sorry to disappoint. In switzerland, No news in bad news, as you are likely to be No 2 or a backup. elsewhere, No news is good news. If you still do not hear from them for over 1 month, just forget it.

Did you get the interview via a recruiter, if so usually positive results would be communicated fairly quickly. But there are a lot of circumstances at the business that you may not be aware of, and this could affect the length of the decision. So it's a Catch-22 situation

I disagree. If you've already had the interview, that would have been your chance to shine. Working in HR, if I had someone email me with points that they had brought up in the interview, I would think that they were a bit desperate. I think it's best just to call and ask for the feed-back. Good luck!

Hi,
In my experience, if you interview at a Swiss company at the end of the interview they will ask you to call them after a few days to discuss feedback - and they may even specify a date and time.
Cheers,
Nick

Yup, things can be a bit slow here so give them a call. Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

No I don't think time means bad news. I've been contacted up to 6 months later for a position.
I have found that a thank you note showing interest in the position has usually been greeted with a positive response. Perhaps not the position but at least the next round of interviews.
Interviews.. do note the plural, for it's quite common here to go through 3 or 4 rounds.
Hope it works out for you | This user would like to thank Sky for this useful post:

Thanx for the help in advance | | | | | Having read your post again, if they have given you a time frame, and that time has passed, you should give them a couple days and then call. But let the full time period elapse before you call, or you may appear desperate if you call before.

Thanx for the help in advance | | | | | My wife waited for 2 months two get a reply (positive), now she's going to attend the second round of interviews. And during this time she called the company like 4-5 times and she was sure that she was going to get a negative reply. I don't know what these guys are doing here (I mean the HR), but apparently, they are not in a rush | This user would like to thank taskalem for this useful post:

Hello Everyone.....
Thank You all for the reply.
Keeping my fingers crossed..... had called them Yesterday and the HR said they had hired someone else.
So NO CALL IS BAD NEWS atleast for me.Am looking for job for last 6 months and I think after sometime you get frustrated of getting an interview and not qualifying for it.
Thanx

Keep at it took me 5 months of looking in papers, ringing sending c.v to get one then I get my job through local paper so you never know. Chin up there be something somewhere you just have to look for all different jobs and not just the ones in your field of work Good luck |

Sorry to hear your news.
Keep looking though and don't flood the market.
Yes apply for jobs that you might not have applied for were you to be in your home environment, but in your cover letter please state a valid rational argument for the decision to apply.
