Hello,

Please check the 7th wonder of EF, the search button ( friendly fire, don't get offended now)

See this for results..

It is hard to say what you will earn, all depends on the company, your experience, the way the wind blows that day..

Check this to give you an idea :

Lohnbuch

And this for all other questions we had regarding Salary in Switzerland.

Salary Questions

Another alternative is contacting a recruitment agency, they will have a fair idea who earns what..

Hope it helps best of luck and Welcome to EF and Switzerland

Joey

250,000 CHF is normal, but I live in Cloud-Cuckoo Land at the moment so I'm not sure.

I guess you are conservative - isn't it 500K the minimum? this is Switzerland after all, one has to be able to afford the amenities of life.

I don't know what AD / AVP even means so I guess I'll have to be happy with less.
With the cost of living here you could easily go through a 150,000 CHF salary and taxes are higher than Zurich :-) Any banks hiring in Zurich?

IT salary in Geneva

What would be an appropriate salary for a Java programmer in Geneva? Is 120,000 CHF enough to rent a house in a nice area?

The sarcastic comments are coming because these questions have been covered on this forum hundreds of times before. Try using the search function and you will find an answer pretty easily.

Nope, they are jealous, they are not living in Geneva

People live with less than the salary you mention.

So you can do it.

A decent small house in somewhat central Geneva is going to start around 5-6000 CHF. Your net pay will probably be roughly 7000 CHF. So probably a no go.

Around 3,000/month.

Why do you need such a huge place to live? Family?
