New law for swiss univ grads

Hi all,

I would like your views on this. The new law applicable from 1st January 2011 says that swiss univ grads can stay for 6 more months after they finish studies and will be treated on an equal standing with swiss citizens for job opportunities.

This was supposed to be a good news. What I observed instead is that most of the employers (if not all) now specify in the advertisement that only Swiss or EU citizens with valid work permit may apply. Previously this was not the case.

Has anyone else noticed this? What is the point in making this law if the employers are not gonna support it and circumvent easily making it worse for the auslanders?

This has been the case for years, as long as I've been around (more than 5), and is nothing related to this new law.

I know nothing about the new law, to be clear, but if that's the case I would suggest including something about your eligibility for a work permit very clearly in your CV, so that you don't get needlessly dismissed. Many employers probably don't know about it.
