Teaching jobs in Lausanne - anyone with tips or Websites ?

Hi,

I am moving to Lausanne in August and I'm hoping to find a teaching job. I am from England so will be looking for a job in an international school or some kind of employment where I can work with children (early years/reception age.) has anyone got any tips or helpful hints on where to look or any good websites that advertise education jobs in Switzerland?

Any help would be great

hi hannahp900,
I don't have much experience in teaching in Suisse but can give some information I know:
1. if you know french rather well you can work both at state schools and sure private ones but
2. if your french is not good enough you can work only at private ones or just courses
3. the best is if you have anyone here who could recommend or present you at one of schools
language schools - http://www.suisse-romande.com/ecoles-langues.html

bonne chance - good luck

There are several international schools in the area, and some British schools. La Chataigneraie in Founex, driving/train distance from Lausanne, is opening a large primary school soon and would, I think, need teachers. Your best bet is to contact the Vaud private schools association, AVDEP - I think you have to register for access to job ads.

Most of the international schools have just finished their recruiting. The peak time is February. If you go on the tesjobs.co.uk website and scroll down on Swizterand , "Teaching , you will see that the International School is still recruiting for an IT Specialist. Most of international schools put their vacancies on this website. Good luck

Knowing French is not going to give you the right to teach in local state school. You will have to have all your experience and qualifications recognised by the Education Board ( EDK). I did it, had to combine a file of all my documents and pay 400 francs. I was lucky my native language is French but If your native language is not Italian, German or French you will have to pass the French exam with at least level C1. But you should be able to work in bilingual school. You will find lots of threads on this topic.
