experteer.ch - Premium Service

Has anyone paid for the premium service on www.experteer.ch ? They're part of the Monster network.

Better still, has anyone paid and subsequently been employed/headhunted by using their premium service?

It has some very decent job listings but I cant seem to access them without membership. I'm pretty suspicious of paying to access a job site as it seems like not the right business model - shouldnt the employer just pay for the commission and that's that.... then again all their jobs are circa 120K+ so its a 'premium' service. Still feels kinda wrong.

I would love to hear anyone's experiences with this job site.

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

Never had an experience with them. But my advice: don't pay!
They are paid by employer to do the job which is: find the best candidate for the position. What they are doing is not selecting the best one but rather the ones who are paying.
You are not even sure the position still exists, they can always tell you later....sorry the company did not select you.

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

I did pay for them over a couple of months a few years back when I was actively looking. There were some interesting postings there, but none that I found to be exclusive. I found the job at the time on Monster

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

I didn't pay for this service because it didn't look like it yould offer what it said on the box. I'm always suspicious of a job board you have to pay for.

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

Well, I dont think anything is wrong with it. It's just not worth paying for. The jobs that I found in there were certainly interesting too. Since the fee is not too much, if you are looking actively, it might not be bad to subscribe for a month or something.

Edit: Btw, I had paid on the German site at the time (www.experteer.de). I think you can still access the jobs on the swiss site, and I think the euro payment is cheaper.

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

Cheers. Yes that's the reason I'm asking here as they do seem to have some pretty juicy jobs, but as other threads have said - a lot of the jobs are apparently available on other sites.

I might take out a single or 3 month subscription, they are offering 25% discount at the moment so its worth a few pennies. I'll have a look at the German site also thanks.

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

interesting question. Agree that paying for premium is not the way to go, but am curious if anyone has ever got an interview or job out of posting their details on such a site.

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

I got several interviews for jobs I saw advertised there. Actually, it tends to list jobs for middle management / senior professionals don't appear anywhere else. Also, as not many people are prepared to pay your application tends to be taking a bit more seriously (not just something that is sent to make a number at the end of the month).

No one has ever contacted me through this site. But then again, I have been for several years on Xing and Linkedin, and the number of times a headhunter or employer contacted me can be counted by fingers of one hand.

Of course, you may argue if it is moral or not to pay a fee. As the job market is today, you might be just closing yourself for opportunities.

You are assuming that the employer only receives responses from Experteer, which I do not believe is the case - almost every time I have come across an interesting position on Experteer, I have also seen it on other sites...

Why would an employer limit the pool of candidates they can access by posting their open position only on a site that candidates have to pay to see??

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

Just to wrap-up this discussion... I just signed an offer for a position I saw on experteer. The only 2 places I saw this ad were experteer and the company's website (if it was posted somewhere else, I could not find it, though I am pretty thorough with the search). IMHO, it were the best spent 150CHF of my live...

In any case - for execute and middle to senior management positions, experteer seems to have to best selection of positions available. My perception is that employers are now flooded with applications, many of them just to make numbers for the RAV. Even if the limit their sources, they still will have a good enough pool to chose from. Also, many of the positions advertised are for internal people and they really don't need to see more people. I can be totally wrong, but this is how I interpret the current job market.

Re: experteer.ch - Premium Service

I had a 1 month or so subscription to be able to look at details of some roles which appeared to sound interesting based on headlines. Didn't extend it.

Most if not all of the roles were in the end also able to be found via other consolidator sites (e.g. www.trovit.ch).

I think a job searchers money would be better spent on other things ( for instance).
