sick while leaving a company?

I'm leaving my company at the end of June, and at the same time i have scheduled operation in hospital at the end of May, and i will probably receive up to two months sick leave from doctor. (i know it, because i had this problem before once...)

at the same time Visana sent me some papers after i resigned , asking many questions, for example if i will be sick durning 'transition period' , probably in case if i had another job queued up (i don't...)

So my question is, will i be actually paid for July when i'm still sick but not working anymore by Visana? or should i go to RAV anyway even if i'm sick on 1st of July?

My sickness is actually reason why i left my company, if that matters. (and is caused by working conditions - but that's not anybody's fault)

Re: sick while leaving a company?

why don't you schedule the operation on the last day of June and request 2 months of paid sick leave?

Re: sick while leaving a company?

Speak to the HR people at your company. Some companies have some sort of insurance policy which means that if you are sick during your notice period, the sick period doesn't count as part of the notice period, and in your case, in effect your notice period could be extended by another two months.

Hope that makes sense.

Kash.

Your notice period increases if your ill, it does not matter if you were fired or you resigned.

are you sure?

i spoke with HR about whole thing, and they didn't mention anything about notice period increase.

i thought that if i'm sick when end date comes, insurance company (like Visana) will start paying me salary (or part of salary, depending on the contract with my company).

But it doesn't mean that my contract is prelonged...

Can you clarify this?
Also, should i go to RAV from 1st of July (1st day of unemployment) or not? if i'm sick, or should i want until my sick leave period ends.

Hi,

Your contract specifies a notice period, it has to be worked, it's not been extended........ You probably don't want that to happen, the same with HR so it's up to you how you play it.

Go to the RAV now, they can explain the in's & outs when ill. Normally you must be looking for a job during a notice period, they are there to help you!

Good luck

Nope, that applies only when the employer terminates the employment: See here for a reference to the Swiss Civil code: http://www.englishforum.ch/employmen...ml#post1110105

Re: sick while leaving a company?

what i was wondering is can i be in RAV and at the same time get money from Visana for being sick? meaning, is it my right to do so?

i suppose not, since i should not be at RAV if i'm sick.
