Why the dare ? Isn't this a bit of a late over-reaction ? Nobody is comparing their own salary here. If you read carefully you will see post banter helpful comments from me.

...and who said I was unhappy ? I am at the happiest point in my life right now, career wise, and personally.

I think you misinterpreted.
Oh sorry, uphatters. I was really directing my comments to the OP. I know you are happy except when your loved one isn't around. I've edited my post to make it sound better.

Is the 8600 net of pension? medical insurance? Can't be net of tax.
Maybe I'm the thicko I don't know so much about salary types.

SFr. 8,600 net seems pretty clear to me.

Bets on whether the OP will return? I think she will stay far away as she got little sympathy on this forum.

So just as an innocent but interesting question that includes tax deductions?

I think people working here on permits, get tax deducted at source, so they don't file returns at year end .... which is why Snoopy's question (top of page 3 I think), re.12 or 13 salaries payments p.a. was pertinent (13th salary is "technically" intended to contribute towards tax liabilities).

[can't say for sure, thou' as I neither work nor have a permit]

So then theoretically if this company offered bill gates a net salary of 8600 thereby guaranteeing to pay his tax bill, and he makes a 2bln profit elsewhere then the company has to foot the tax bill? Cos here you are taxed on all assets even as a b permit

Exactly. If bill wanted to avoid taxes on all his wealth and income he would have to be source taxed on less than 120k per year, then he would not need to file a tax return.

I omitted to quantify this as income tax. There would be additional liabilities on assets (I assume).

This is an area with which I don't have many dealings, personally - the closest I normally come to tax is hitting them in a wall with a hammer.

I've been lurking for a while and searching to my heart's content. And I still can't figure out how one can afford (sorry for using the "a" word) life in CH.

We have 3 kids, and would like to have a big enough house/apartment to fit us all in. There is no offer yet, but the interview should happen soon and I am obsessing over all aspects of life/salaries/rent/cost of meat, etc. The area would be Zürich/Horgen. I have been searching homegate and other housing websites and it seems like rents for 4 bedroom places are north of 5000 CHf. Am I missing something? The numbers freak me out quite a bit...and I thought the Munich area was expensive.

Thanks in advance!
Welcome to the Forum.

Zurich and Geneva are extremely expensive. Bern, Lucerne and Basel are moderately expensive. Maybe you can live in the Olten or Saint Gallen area and commute to Zurich, the train service is excellent.

Please start a new thread and don't de-rail this one.

lol, you make me laugh, I like you! These guys are all bitter for whatever reason. Probably tired of only getting affection from their hand. I don't know why they think we have to explain our whole lives to them. I've been called a sex worker and a bible beater (by the same person) and i've only been here for two days. I actually find it kind of comical how off the wall and confused they are. Maybe if I hang around I will hear some more crazy stuff about myself.

Best of luck to you!!
You weren't called a sex worker, you jumped into that mantle yourself. Check it for yourself.

After your response I wrote you were behaving like someone from the Bible belt. In my definition that would be a narrow minded non-sexual Old Testament purist. If you want to accept these descriptions then go ahead and rant about it, most people had forgotten you, until you raised the stakes again.

Can we continue the fight outside and not de-rail this thread? Thank you.

Re: salary on par ???

Well, this is a novel twist on a salary thread.

We ignore the op (after having pissed them off and made them go away), invent a salary for them and then discuss that invented salary.

I think the OP will get 160,000CHF.

Wow! That's great! You'll have a good life here on that.

She's doing the same on other completely unrelated threads - I guess you left an impression.

Make sure you lock your doors.

I love the idea.

I think your rent will be 4000 CHF a month. Wow, that's fairly high. If you look harder, you could find something better.
