CIMA qualified people in Switzerland hi , i am looking to move to zurich in the near future and currently completing my final CIMA exams (chartered institute of managment accountants) just wondering if there are any CIMA qualified people already in Switzerland working and if they could share any experiances on opportunities arising ? |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland I just enquired with our financial recruitment team if there are opportunities for CIMA qualified candidates and the answer was: "Yes! Have you got one? Have you? Come on, have you?" So I guess you shouldn't struggle too much! ;) If you want them to take a proper look register on the Swisslinx homepage. |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland I am from HK with ACCA and MBA from UK. Can speak English, not German and planning to move to Zurich in Dec this year. Is it easy to get a job? Just a little bit worry that I could not find a job. |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland If you follow the advice above then our team might be able to answer that one for you. ;) Quote:

Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland ACCA and MBA is fine and will get you a job in no time. the problem might be getting a permit for switzerland if you do not have an EU passport.. |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland well, CIMA is not so known in Switzerland, more a CPA or CMA, you know these titles are from US, Canada or Australia, The CMA is growning in whole Europe (especially in the Netherlands, Russia and Germany). for Germany they have a chapter in Munich, I was there two times and Swiss Germans attended too. www.ima-chapter-muenchen.org As far as I know one can make the CMA in Switzerland too. best regards |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland I have a swiss work permit and have ACA training and I find it extremely difficult to find work in Switzerland. I have contacted swisslinx a number of times and they are not interested to the point of not even returning my calls, don't fall for the spiel. I would suggest getting a job offer berfore coming and fluent German is essential. |

I am guseeing you work for swisslinx. you should be more concrete when helping people deal with life changing decisions |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland I agree with what others have said on here -- if you hold a formal accounting qualification and are looking for a role in finance, you shouldn't have a hard time finding something. Have a look at jobs.ch for an idea of the positions available. And no, I don't work for jobs.ch. :p |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland I'm an ACCA etc working for an international bank in Zurich, speaking only english, and can say that language hasn't been an issue thusfar, however local GAAP is a must if you are looking for a technical or financial management role. Dan |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland I am CIMA qualified :) there are quite a few of us! There is CIMA Switzerland who often organise events - they have a partnership with Adecco - so they could be good for finding jobs. I have had no issues finding a new job with this qualification! |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland The Swiss-Germans have their own qualifications, and these are more helpfull, I am sure. To speak one language only is in generell not enough in Middle Europe. |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland What's the difference between a regular accountant and a management accountant? Does the latter have more expertise in cooking and/or smoke and mirrors?? :) |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland Im currently learning the stuff for my november management level exams..anybody doing the same? |
Re: CIMA qualified people in Switzerland Quote:
A "regular" accountant typically focuses on preparing statutory accounts. A "management" accountant prepares the accounts that are used to run the business, which can vary significantly from the statutory accounts. |

I think we are in the same boat. Have a look at my post today, I have set up a new thread & let me know if you are interested in my proposition. If you are in Chiswick, we may not be far from each other also. I live in Wimbeldon, work in Paddington. my girlfriend works in Hammersmith. Anyways, back on point, it you want to pool resources & share info, I have setup an email especially for this stuff Thanks, Dave |
