Experience with Lecho GmbH

Hi,

Before anyone gets upset with me, I have just registered here for this one off posting to try and find out some information.

My daughter has supposedly got herself a job with a company called Lecho GmbH that do promotional work/campaigns for Terre des Femmes.

The work is supposedly pretty well paid for a student (CHF4000 basic + commissions) and includes accommodation and I believe travel expenses.

Being a sceptical Brit it all seems a bit too good to be true so I was wondering if anyone knows the company or more generally knows whether these promotional agencies are respectable etc.

i.e. can anyone put a concerned Dad at ease with his 18 year old daughter going off to a foreign country to work for a company he has never heard of.

Thanks in advance

Stuart

I've never heard of the company, but with a little googling found this.

Here is the moneyhouse entry for the company, registered in Schwyz. Capital is listed as only 20,000 chf.

The swiss white pages directory gives an address for the company in universitatstrasse in Zurich.

Re: Experience with Lecho GmbH

Terre des Femmes has been around for about 30 years according to their Wikipedia entry. It's a women's rights organization - campaigns against forced marriages, genital mutilation, domestic violence, etc. Name/logo rings a bell but couldn't tell you where I saw it.

Was this the job she applied for - working an info booth on the street? If so - yes, that's respectable work, nothing dodgy. I wouldn't expect her to get much in the way of commissions though as most pedestrians I see try desperately to avoid getting buttonholed - even to the extent of crossing the street or suddenly pretending not to speak any German, French or English. Might be a depressing line of work in that regard for someone who's (presumably) young, idealistic and outgoing.

CHF4000/month would be plenty to survive on (upper end of the 'student' lifestyle bracket) and more so if accommodation is paid. Is that absolutely guaranteed though or is it just some sort of average figure? Their website says that the wage structure "will be explained in detail at the first meeting"... and unfortunately if they have to tell you they'll explain in detail, then it probably needs explaining in detail...

In short, the work is OK but I might be a bit skeptical about the pay till you've (or she's) read the contract.

Re: Experience with Lecho GmbH

Thanks for the answers.

@runningdeer
I had also seen this page which made more sceptical as to how the company can offer ~3000/month basic salary. I did check other companies of this kind though and they all seem to offer around the same.

@MathNut
Yes that is the job she has got and the accommodation is in the contract. (They have apparently bought a house in Olten which is used as a shared residence). The contract does state that she has a basic salary and then various levels of commission based on sign-ups. My guess is, is that if they don't sign anyone up, they don't get the contract renewed but we'll see. My first priority is trying to make sure she is not getting into some kind of dubious porn/drug/whatever ring.

I guess I now have to go and find out what's what with health insurance, tax etc. I'll search the forums as I guess there is something on here somewhere.

Thanks again

Stuart

That would be my guess too. How long is the original contract for?

Would have to check on that this evening as I don't have it here and can't remember off hand.
