Unemployment benefit EU citizen with 5yrs B permit

Hi,

I would like to ask general question on unemployment benifit eligibility. I am an EU citizen moved here last october, before that i had worked continuously for 5 years. now it may happend that i loose my current job in that case it would be only 7-8 months worked in Switzerland. Would my previous working in other EU country would count, when applying 12 months working rule?

Cheers

I went through this situation in 2008. Yes you are entitled - you will need to get a form filled in by your previous EU country's tax authorities (at that stage the form was called E301 but it is now called "Portable Document U1").

I would advise going and talking to your local RAV office/Office Cantonal d'Emploi as soon as possible in the process to find out your rights and obligations and get into the system.

There are plenty more details in this thread:
EU nationals fired shortly after arriving in Switzerland ?

Good luck!
