Help me mobbing my colleague!!!!

I know you will hate me by the second you read that title and clicked on the thread!
I am not evil or anything like that....I have been mobbed by the 2 of my colleague it has been more than 5 months.

Especially one of them behave like an angel in front of the management team and once we are alone, he treats me like a maid in the office.

Last time we were alone and he took advantage of the situation and started to yell at me and it was scandalous.....I informed the management and none seemed to care about it and they postponed my meeting till another few weeks cause they are under time pressure...

I was convinced that they wont seem to be any solution to my problem. Nobody seems to believe me, since my colleague shows the best image in front of them!

I thought the only solution is to treat him likewise and start mobbing him the way he is....

I dont have this character, do you have any tips on how i can do that?

I cant work, cant concentrate and feel miserable 24 hours on 24!!!

Dare I say it; because you're an Auslander?

More seriously if you resort to their tactics, and lose your job, you won't have a leg to stand on if you try and claim compensation. Document any and all cases, create a file, go to management.

If nothing is done, go see a lawyer.

There is an English expresssion "Two Wrongs don't make a Right".

Bertrand is correct that if you retaliate you will probably be the unlucky one to lose your job. It is wrong but that is often how it seems to work out.

If you cannot deal with the situation through the correct channels it is better to leave of your own choice and maintain your reputation.

Re: Help me mobbing my colleague!!!!

Anyone know if the OP can use a video camera and record the events or does that break privacy laws here?

Kind of hard evidence that he could build up over a little bit of time.

Re: Help me mobbing my colleague!!!!

As the others have said. Keep evidence and seek legal advice.
Don't resort to the same tactics. Any benefit that you may feel will be short-lived and you will almost certainly end up the loser.

Re: Help me mobbing my colleague!!!!

Buy (or borrow) a small digital audio recorder and try to gather some evidence. Take the evidence to the management and inform them that if they don't do anything you will go to a lawyer.

Re: Help me mobbing my colleague!!!!

Cant you speak to your direct manager about this first and discuss how to move forward? Sometimes, a word with the offending party about how unprofessional they are acting, is more than enough to get them to tone down.

If you already have and didnt work, start recording down all the incidents. For example: date, time and facts as to what led up to the incidents. When I mean facts, I mean facts and not your opinions. For example: colleague and I were discussing about X. He said this, I said that etc, then he started yelling etc. Keep a record of any nasty written emails, if any.

Then request for an official meeting with the HR and be calm, firm and stick to the facts. If they've postponed the meeting, you'll just have to be patient, suck it up and in the meantime, record any incidents that might happen again. Good luck.

Re: Help me mobbing my colleague!!!!

I agree, with what the others said above; don't retaliate - at all. The best thing you can do is to keep a smile on your face and be proud of yourself that you can just brush off these pathetic nuisances. Yes, keep a diary of occurances, but I'll guess as they see you act nonchalently, they'll stop bothering you. If not, you'll have your diary of things they've said or done, and can take it to your management.
Don't rush it if you don't have to... you will most likely still be working with these people even after you complain about them....
Good luck, and keep us updated!

Ok, before you do anything you may be searching a job soon, rightly or wrongly. It is critical here to have good references so ask for an interim reference, this is the polite way of saying you are looking at all your options. This will do a couple of things:
1 Put management under a bit of pressure to understand why you need one.
2 Throw your colleges off, if they think you are searching a new job, they will probably back off a bit.
3 Give you a good job reference if everything turns ugly.

Sometimes a simple "back the off idiot" works best whilst wearing a Hells Angles biker jacket!!

Get the reference. If it is not glowing, then argue, using mobbing evidence from earlier.

No. You post it on the local COOP notice board... Of course you show it to your management. It is much easier to make any sort of accusations when you give specific details of "mobbing", i.e. date, time, exactly what happened (note stick to facts), include as much detail about what was said and who witnessed it (if any) and why the situation was uncalled for or any accusations unfounded.

Mobbing I have read about, all here on EF (see links below) have been based around belittling colleagues/subordinates in front of other colleagues, accusations of bad/poor work and accusations of not meeting goals/deadlines/objectives.

Do you know how to sue a company for being forced to leave due to mobbing and/or ill health as a result, loss of earnings etc.?

If you do, then you don't need a lawyer. But I'm guessing from your thread here, you don't. In which case, you'll need a lawyer.
