Radio RF Engineer - Salary in Telecommunications field

Hello,

I'm having discussions with a contracting company, regarding an employment in Telecommunications field in Switzerland. Can be a direct contract for a mobile operator, or maybe even as their employee, but I will need to work on site (on mobile operator's office).

I'm having 5+ years of experience in Telecommunications, specialized on radio part, somewhere at Experienced level (between Assessed/Beginner and Senior) and I'm currently working for a mobile vendor (such as: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, NSN etc) in Romania.

Can someone tell me which would be the salary which would be recommended to ask it to employer? They've already asked me an amount, but my salary requested was somehow lower. I've read after the first interview that Switzerland is a very expensive country and the salaries are overall higher than in France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany.

So, to summarize, my questions are:

1. which would be the salary matched with my experience? I can give on PM the address of my LinkedIn profile, to know exactly what I'm doing and which is my level of experience
2. does it matter for the employer if I've finished a faculty like Marketing and I'm working in Telecommunications field? I can be employed as Technician (doesn't bother me). Is it important the finished faculty, in detriment of the experience?
3. during the interview, what kind of salaries are discussed with Swiss companies? Net income/Gross income, annual or monthly salary. In Romania people talk all the time about monthly net income.

Regards,
A.

Those topics have been beaten to death, seriously!

Use search engine on the EF and there will be scores of info provided.

It all depends on the company, recruiter so there's no precise answer. You usually discuss gross salaries then you can go to www.comparis.ch and link the taxes at source to your location (where you will be based in Switzerland). It is a homework for a day. Good luck

Re: Radio RF Engineer - Salary in Telecommunications field

@stephanienie: thank you very much for your reply, I will keep count on this. By the way, after tax for thos 6.5K gross income, how much will be the net (in hand) income?

Since my job is very specific (cannot be compared so easy with the IT field or other Telco area), it's quite hard to find someone which works on this area. That's why I've asked here...

I also have few questions for the Swiss people:

1. I've read that the monthly rent cost for 1-room apartment/studio is around 1000EUR/1220CHF... is this true?
2. Does the experience in this domain compensate the lack of the technical faculty finished? Basically, I've finished Economics and Marketing (3 years), but I work in Telecommunications field from around 6 years...
Is this a problem, from the mentality point of view? Doesn't bother me to be employed as Technician, but I'm expecting to have a market-rated salary based on my experience.
3. How the foreign employees are seen in general at a job there in Switzerland? Particularly, I would like to hear a feedback about Romanians/East Europeans (since I'm Romanian).

Especially for the point 2 and 3, I would appreciate if you could find for me, using the Find function, the replies you're talking about. If this isn't possible, I would appreciate not suggesting future ambiguous answers to anyone.

Tough. Use the search function to find the answers yourself. Your appreciation is noted.
