Re: Pregnancy and a bad employer

View Post

I would like to know some more things....My friend was fired on the last day of her probation period ,(whereas in contract it was clearly mentioned that 7 days for notice in probation) and later week, she came to know that she was pregnant!! What can be done in this situation.
And it was a Permanent contract
The two issues here are the correct notice period and whether or not the termination was valid due to her pregnancy.

With regards to the notice period, she must get seven days, whether those seven days are within the probation period or not.

In terms of pregnancy, she is not covered because the pregnancy occurred during the probation period and this is unfortunately not protected. The protection only occurs after successful completion of the probation period for her permanent contract.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. :/
