Redundany package help

Good morning everyone,

The company I work for in Geneva are letting some of us go and paying some of us off.

I know the rights in France but does anyone know anything about the standard minimum redundancy package one should receive in Switzerland.

Thanks for your help

Alex

How long have you been working for the company?

Are you based in Switzerland?

Re: Redundany package help

I have been working in Switzerland for 10 months only, but I have been with this company for 4 and a half years now.

I can't remember after how many years' service the legal minimum goes up from one month to two months' notice, but it will be one or the other. Anything the company gives you in addition to paying you during your notice period is entirely at their discretion.

Edit: I may actually be wrong in saying that the minimum goes up from one to two months at all. Looking at my most recent contract, it said that the notice period would be one week for the first 6 months of employment, then one month thereafter. Best to look at your contract.

Normal redundancy in Switzerland is 0. Companies just give notice & pay till the end of the contract.

In Switzerland you are paid more than in France, however that's it. After 12 months you are entitled to uneployment pay for 12 months.

If you have been working for 4 years you will be entitled to 18months uneployment pay, notice period is then 2 months.
