I'd think here, much like everywhere else, it is hard to say specifically as it depends upon experience level and location. What I mean is that Geneva (for example) is more expensive to live in than Basel, so I'd hope that people in the lower pay scales are making more there than here.
Meanwhile, my husband does the sort of job that elsewhere would usually pay hourly wages, here he gets an annual salary, so asking after hourly here doesn't make much sense to me. Sorry, I know that's not much help!
On the other hand, knowing that the general level of pay for his type of job in the US is fairly similar to the general level of pay for shop clerks / grocery cashiers, I'd anticipate the annual salaries here for each would also be similar to each other. So... I'd feel pretty safe to assume that such a job would pay something between 35k and 45k chf annually here in Basel.
