Re: New Job Offer..!!!

Hi Mark,

I don't know exactly what role you have being offered in basel but if it is for an aircraft mechanics position then I would say the money is about right. If the position is for an EASA B1 or B2 licenced engineer with type rating then the money is a bit low it should be more.

Your deductions including AHV(NI in the UK), IV and tax will be in the region of 22%-25% if you got kids you pay less tax.

apartments 1bedroom = 1200+ 2bedroom= 1800+ depending how big and area you are looking for.

If you want anymore information re Basel then pm me I can help you out.

Considering that our Career Starters ("Young Talents" !) in Zuerich banking IT pick up 80K or more for b*gg&*r all skills, I would say that 66K is - even in Basel - a toilet-cleaner's salary.
On the other hand, a toilet-cleaner can look at himself in the mirror every morning...

Just sayin'...

Considering that the average HOUSEHOLD income from salary in Switzerland is about 6500 per month (gross), there must be a lot of toilet-cleaners around

Banking jobs (incl IT) are not a good indicator of 'worth'. They typically compensate you for working all the hours god sends and being on call on weekends (the hourly rate probably works out comparable to a toilet cleaners salary), as well as knowing that there is a high likelihood you will be kicked out in the next year or two.

Re: New Job Offer..!!!

I know lots of people making a living with 60k or less and even though they do not live in luxury they have a good life, many thigns have to be considered to know if the money will be right for you. Your way of living, if you have family, will you consider sharing an appartment?

I could not help but get offended at the comment about toilet cleaners, what is wrong with being a toilet cleaner?
