Part time employee - what are the responsiblities of the employer?

Hi all - we're looking to hire someone part time to help with child minding / cleaning etc. Just wondering what our our responsibilities to pay?

So we will issue a contract
We will set a fixed price (per month) assuming working 20 hours a week
We should mention the expectation is 20 hours, more may be required occasionally but this is an exception

But in terms of additional costs, what do we have to cover and what is down to them?
eg - insurance for them to work in our home?
- social insurances / taxes?

Thanks
K

Re: Part time role - what is repsonsiblity of employer?

You will be responsible for paying tax, social deductions & possibly pension depending on the amount paid. As the employment contract is for more than 8 hours per week you also have to provide accident insurance to cover your employee. A good place to start is with the SVA, they will assist you with everything you need to know.

For those in the Romandie, this link provides very useful infos for each canton.
And yes, it is only in French. Sorry.

Useful information Sada, but I don't think it will help the OP as his location is Ireland
