Before aviation job interview

I would like some inputs on the following:
I am schedule to have an interview in Basel for an aviation Engineering job.

Could anyone bring me some advice or feedback on what to expect for salary, long-term job potential, consider permanent versus contractor.

Would definetely recommend the move?
What can i try to negotiate.

I would be leaving a job in the US to move to Basel.

Thank you in advance for the advice

I guess that you're talking about Jet Aviation or AMAC, drop me a PM with what you need to know exactly.

Good luck.

Re: Before aviation job interview

Yes you are correct

Just want some guidance on what i should be expecting for salary range.
What extra benefits can i manage to negotiate?
Bonuses?
My travel expenses for my interview... Which i'm paying for.

If i committed to pay for the travelling, i would assume they know i am interested and i would think that they would not make me waste my time and money if they were not interested/serious about me getting the job.

I would like to finally settle down, they seem to have work lined up for the next 5 years. They also known to be the best in the industry.

I'm already making in the 5 digits per month, wouldn't want to cut myself short either...

Thank you for taking the time

I would not recommend a permie position then, but as I understand you are already interviewing with the company and not an agent?
The standard practice is to reimburse the travel expenses for the interview, just ask your contact person what the policy is.

Hi,

Why wouldn't you recommend a permanent position?
Not worth it?
If you are a contractor, you are not intitled to the 4 weeks off paid every year.
Trying to settle down and finally get a life, if you know what i mean

HR told me they were not paying for job interviews, considering they can find people within the EU. But find out thru the grapevines that they are desperately looking for people in my field

If you know that the employer is in need of you, then, be bold and ask for the salary and other services you want. Be polite on the other hand. I would suggest to look for a permanent kind of job, since you want to settle down. Contractual jobs are very risky. And there are many employers who don't pay the expenses for interview. But I think that much risk you should take as the job is your need as well. Go for it. Good Luck!!!

Re: Before aviation job interview

@9055ML I am a recent graduate with no professional experience (but lots of practical experience through internships and sponsored projects) and my field is avionics. I recently got an offer from a small company in Switzerland and they are paying me 6000 CHF/month. Since you are already earning in 5-digits and are experienced you should expect much more than that. Just to give you an idea.
