For the past number of days i have trawled through various threads on employment but have found nothing of use with regard to internships.Im looking for an internship in finance law or accounting to begin in January 2012.Does anyone have any advice?I have been informed that it is unlikely that i will get a legal internship which is understandable.But my degree (Hon BA in Law and accounting) is very well recognised in Ireland amongst the big 4 as well as various fund management companies,yet i have had no success in finding a suitable internship.

Help before i have to go back to Ireland with my tail between my legs!

Have you ever done equity analysis? How much do you read? Do you have any experience with a Bloomberg terminal? Thanks

although it is a few months since this thread was active, I feel that my current issue belongs here...

I have too been looking for an internship from 1.1.2012 within finance, without any success so far. Probably I am just too late, at least that is my suggestion.

The thing is that I currently attend Uni St.Gallen as an exchange student (from Norway) in the banking and finance programme, and I would very much try to stay on beyond new year.

Do any of you have a tip on where to search/apply/etc ?

Any help would be highly regarded!

I do not have any concrete tips, but I would try to send out open applications to companies that seem interesting to you. This worked best for me when I was looking for an internship 10 years ago.

Also, ask your university, they probably have connections.

In Switzerland, student internships are not as common as in some other countries and places are not always advertised, if they are you will be competing with many other people. However if you can add value to a company, make it clear to them what kind of assignments you can do. It is likely that somebody will give you a chance.

For them it is a cheap way to get an educated person on board, if you do not live up to their expectations they are under no obligation to keep you after the agreed period of time, if they do like you they might make you an offer to stay. Anyway, good luck!

PS I don't think you are too late. If I remember correctly, many friends of mine found their places very last minute. But yes, it can be stressful.
