It's a really tough question and you need to really delve deeply into exactly what sort of lifestyle you expect for your money.

Agreed.
I was working on the rough assumption that a young banker in London would have a typical London lifestyle (lashings of beer served in public houses), rather than be a keen skier, mountain hiker, and lake swimmer. In the latter case, he would be quids in when moving to Geneva.

I worked there for a while, ten years back. Hardly saw a single Swiss person the whole time.

Thanks a lot for your replies guys. I am a very keen skier, so a Swiss lifestyle wouldn't be too bad I guess. Also, I'm sure I'd find an English/Irish pub somewhere in Geneva if a need to lash overcame me
As for more details - the bank I'm speaking of is an American bulge bracket, and I'd work in its securities processing unit.

| | Re: Entry level investment banking salary | Quote: | | | | | Hi all,
I have been invited for an interview at one of the largest international banks in Geneva for an entry-level role in operations. I was wondering what kind of salary I should be aiming for - I have an offer at a comparable firm in London and it starts at around £30k+, but I have no idea what to expect in Switzerland. Thanks for the replies!
Roger | | | | | i'd say 30k in london is similar to 70k in geneva.

| | Re: Entry level investment banking salary | Quote: | | | | | Seriously? I am floored by this! Can anyone else confirm? | | | | | I think the above estimate is way too high. Geneva cost of living vs London: you'd need to do a bit more of a detailed calculation than what is on here. But in a broad sense the other estimates mentioned are more on the mark.
