arbeitszeugnis - max. time period

can anyone tell me what is the maximum amount of time an employer has to provide a former employee with an "arbeitszeugnis"?
My contract finished 6 weeks ago and still no arbeitszeugnis. A letter I sent to HR three weeks ago on this has not been replied to

I'm not sure there is a fixed time, it's supposed to be within a "reasonable" time I think.

Re: arbeitszeugnis - max. time period

I think 4 weeks is a reasonable time. Please call up HR and remind them that you would like a nice reference from the company.

If you are still ignored you can go to the Arbeitsgericht and ask them for help, they will give you free advice on what to do next.

In some cantons the court is called Schlichtungsbehörde http://yellow.local.ch/en/q/?what=Sc...id=directories

Re: arbeitszeugnis - max. time period

There was a recent thread where a poster had to wait several years & claimed to have won in court, as he must be given one. I said it was clearly unenforceable however he claimed he had won, at the time was still waiting

It's a legal requirement to get one, a court can order one & you can wait until it's delivered.

They have to provide one but......there is no financial penalty to them if they mess you around.

I think it would be called a missunderstanding.......

Re: arbeitszeugnis - max. time period

Well I finally got my certificate today, over two months after finishing my contract. I am quite happy with it though as it mentions "full satisfaction".

why not give me some rep? disagree with certain veterans on the forum and they will SMS all their veteran friends to immediately come on the forum and trash your rep.
