I have read several threads on employment in Switzerland. My spouse is moving to Baden in December this year and i plan to join him. My concerns are 1. Will i get a job? 2. Even if i get a job, will i be able to manage with a 4 year old kid? I have seen that the schools are not very friendly with respect to timings. I am not very comfortable with having a nanny at home. So far wherever we have been, my kid has been in childcare and he loves to be with kids. We intend to put him in the local Swiss school and not an international one. The kid is bi-lingual - speaks English but not German.

I am presently employed as a Management Consultant with one of the Big 4 consulting firm. I have 10 years of experience (Bachelor and Masters degree in engineering plus an MBA) I have woked in multiple geographies including North America, Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Any advice and suggestions is welcome. If it is going to be tough to get a job and manage one even if i get a job, then i might as well decide not to join my spouse for some more time.

Do you speak a local language ?

You can find swiss 'day' schools or use "hort" which is a form of childcare offered before, between and after school sessions, and vacation care...

I am Non-EU and do not speak any local language - just English but planning to take German classes.

Then stay where you are until you have good German. Without it there are very few quality jobs here.
