| | Pharma Experience
I have experience in the pharma industry, however, only in drug development and research. All the English speaking jobs here are mostly for clinical trials and they all require experience in clinical trials for at least a few months. For all those people in clinical trials, what is a way to gain experience in this field if no one wants to hire if you have no experience? Any suggestions?

you may be able to get some experience with a RCT that is being conducted at a university if you could convince a professor, but this type of work is typically (not always) performed by doctoral students, post docs, phds, and institution staff. you could check out the SNSF web site for a guide to any RCTs that are being funded at your local universities. not sure that this will produce any results, but it never hurts to ask.

Thanks, I took a look, and searched Uni of Basel under clinical medicine, but there were still so many and I wasn't too sure which ones were RCT or just funding for a research project. I'll keep looking, thanks!

Thanks so much for the tip! I had an interview yesterday and got the job at a University helping out with clinical trial data analyzing! I'm getting paid for it too! That was really a great tip!

Hi, welcome!
You'll need to expand a bit if you are to get any helpful replies. Would you be qualified for patent, regulatory, stats, research, marketing, IT, medical, admin, corporate relations...

You might want to rethink the title to this thread. 429 hits and 5 replies. My guess is folks think this thread is about some experience you want to share about a trip to the pharmacy.

For pharma jobs in Switzerland a good place to look if you have good qualifications is www.qual.ch which is mainly for top professionals -- there are quite a few jobs in the pharmaceutical industry, with about half of them published in englishe. The rest seem to be mainly in german (for Zurich, Basel...). You also find ads from medical diagnostic companies and some of their ads are for proudct or commercial roles, but nonetheless require technical credentials. (For example sales: http://www.qual.ch/permlinks_job_2053.html, logistics : http://www.qual.ch/permlinks_job_2042.html << this company has a lot of ads for jobs in Neuchatel)
If you network around this forum and also maybe linkedin or xing, you can sometimes get the lowdown on possible job vacancies at a company if you already have a company in mind where you want to work....
Good luck

Hi,
As daft as this sounds, it might be worth turning up to a couple of the Basel curry nights as many of the turn-up-ees work in Pharma. I think often it helps to have a few contacts in the industry who can spot when positions come up.
I know they're not in the same business, but I believe Syngenta (agri-chemicals) are expanding quite a bit lately; mainly in response to the current food crisis and the demand for cheaper foods.
Cheers,
Nick

I have been actively looking for a role in Switzerland for about six months, and Sygenta's job board has been very sparse indeed. There are currently fewer than 30 jobs available, and not many of them are scientific.
