What exactly are work and education certificates

Hello. I have just moved from the US to Dornach (in the Basel area). I am beginning a job search and in addition to a CV, they ask for certificates - work and education. As you can quickly guess, that's not normally required in the States.

What exactly are they looking for? Transcripts from my college/university education (citing courses and grades/marks)? Letters of recommendation (or is that different)?

What do they usually expect for these certificates, if you are a foreigner?

Thanks in advance.

Re: What exactly are work and education certificates

Depending on the company these certificates include:

- Proof of studies (finished school/university)
- Final Grades (not so common)

- Letters of recommendation from previous employerS

Letters of recommendation are very important in Switzerland. If you have none, I advise you to contact your previous employers and try to get some (positive preferably... ).

Re: What exactly are work and education certificates

They mean degree certificates (or equivalent), if any, and written references from previous employers.

Thank you! That helps. I'll have to work on getting it all together, but it's all possible
