Need Lausanne job from Jan 2012 - June 2012

Hi there,

I am a Canadian with French citizenship, so I don't require a visa to work in Switzerland (I do however need to apply online for a work permit, which should be no problem).

I will be living in Lausanne for six months from January 2012 - June 2012 and I need a job during this time.

I have a degree in mechanical engineering and in education. In Canada I am a math and physics teacher. I have a lot of experience in teaching and tutoring.

I looked into being an au pair but I'm not too fond of the split-shift (early mornings and late nights). I plan to live with my boyfriend who will be working at the Ecole Normale during this time.

Does any one have any leads or know where I should be looking? I doubt that the international schools will want to hire me for just 6 months. My best bet is to be a nanny or find odd jobs in restaurants when I arrive (although I have no restaurant experience).

Any other help, such as which websites are best for finding good, furnished apartments to sublet, would be very much appreciated!!

For instance, does any one know how long it would take to subway from one end of the city to another? I want a rough idea as to what a commute would be like...

Thanks so much in advance!!
-Pam

If you are a math and physics teacher and have some experience I think you'll find lots of openings at school as these branches are demanded very much + they are paid not bad at all

If you don't mind substituting, lot of schools need sub-teachers

Thanks for the information! Do you happen to know if I am qualified to teach in Switzerland, with Canadian qualifications? i.e. were you referring to regular public schools or international schools?

as for private schools - not a problem and if you speak both french and english you're welcome, by the way, College du Leman in Geneva were looking for some teacher at the beginning of this school year, not sure about state schools as generally they demand swiss recognized diploma but you can work there as a sub teacher. try to send your CV to some schools or look at jobs.ch and vd/emploi, good luck
