Work experience/ Internships in social work

Hi everyone. Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong sub-forum (wasn't sure if I could post it in this one or not).

Basically I'm looking for some advice/suggestions regarding finding work/internships in the Zürich area for someone with a social work degree from the US. The student is actually Swiss but didn't grow up here so she only speaks English at the moment (but will be learning German intensively).

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm in basically the same situation and living here currently. My experience so far, you won't get a job in social work unless you're fluent in german.

Hi,

I'm in a similar position trying to get into social work in Switzerland. How has your search gone? Any luck and any advice?

Thanks.

Re: Work experience/ Internships in social work

So far what I have found is that "social work" as a degree, and title does not exist in Switzerland. What falls under social work in North America, is broken into many separately defined, governed professions which each come from a different educational path. This makes job hunting difficult. I'd be curious to hear how other social workers have had their titles/educations translated or what equivalents they have been granted by swiss authorities -anyone?
