If he doesn't tell me then I cant find him people and don't take the Job on. I would have thought that was obvious.... I told a few companies no because they refused to give the basic info. Works both ways.

Well, my experience with this process, as a recruitee, is that I never ever tell my actual salary to a recruiter. Never.
The process of recruitment in itself is very unfair and salary is a major criteria in making a decisions to go or not for a job.

My rationnal is:
The company has a budget for a position -> the recruiter knows it -> I must ought to know it and see if it fits for me.
I mean, if budget is, lets say, 120k, my current is 80k and I say so to the recruiter, then they will propose 100k, bargain to 90k. This happen to me a few times and you only get to know that you've been underpaied once you're in.

So, never again. Now, either they tell me their budget and we compare to my expectations, or I don't continue the process.
