UK Masters in Engineering, Will it be acceptable?

Hi there,

I am James and I am currently studying at University of Brighton, UK.

My course combines Bachelors & Masters and the degree I will receive next year (2013) will be MEng Mechanical Engineering.

My girlfriend is Swiss and I plan to move to Zurich next year.

I have 2 questions please.

1) Would my MEng Mechanical degree be acceptable in Switzerland? I am expected to get 1st class or at least 2:1. (I apologise if its a stupid question, but I have heard Swiss education is tough and demanding).

2) Please can you comment if the following is correct.

If I do get a job in Zurich next year and that I have 0 years of experience. Salarium gave me a figure of about 6500 CHF per month. (12 month)

Considering If I deduct 3/4 of 6500, I will still be left with around 20000 CHF in first year. That's still a lot more money then If I was to work in UK as an engineering.

Thanks in advance

James

6500 * 12 = 78000
75% of 78000 = 58500
78000 - 58500 = 20000

My maths is right Sir, ... But I apologize if I did not explain myself.

I just wanted to ask, lets say my expenses while I am living in Zurich amounts to 3/4 of total salary of 78000 then still I will be left with 20000 CHF in first year, which is approx 14000GBP.

So I will at least save something??? or even 78000 is not enough?

Please, search this this forum for cost-of-living discussions - plenty of them.
I think the rule of thumb for comparing salaries is 1GBP = 2CHF.
