Babysitter wages

This may seem like a daft question but I don't want to break any rules.

I'm going to be looking for a babysitter on a regular basis for one afternoon, possibly two a week for my two sons. I will be working in the house so they are not left alone and it would be about 6 hours maximum.

The question is where do I stand in terms of paying them, taxes AHV etc. If it was the odd evening I wouldn't worry but it's going to be most weeks. As it's for such a short amount I'm guessing they will be below the tax level.

Many thanks for any help.

In Switzerland, taxes and social security contributions have to be paid always when being employed at a private household no matter how many hours are worked. In addition, you need accident insurance for your employee.

Also, if your employment is 5 hours or more per week, make sure to comply with the minimum wages that need to be paid.
