Maternity leave payments AFTER leaving CH?

Hello everyone,

I have looked for info on this but haven't been able to find it. My husband has been offered a job in Denmark and we're 99% sure we're going to take it. We also have a baby due at the beginning of August. We would move some time between September and November, most probably.

I am currently employed 100% and will go on maternity leave at the end of July. I have no job prospects in Denmark at the present time. Neither of us is Danish. My question is:

What happens to my maternity leave after we leave the country? Does this mean the payments stop after we're no longer residents? My husband found something on the federal government web site about Danes who move to Switzerland (in the reverse situation) getting a continuation of their mat leave after they arrive in CH but didn't see any info about our case.

If anyone could advise me I would be most appreciative. I know I probably just need to talk with my employer but I thought I'd look elsewhere first for info.

Thanks!

Re: Maternity leave payments AFTER leaving CH?

Hi Swisssarah

As far as I am aware of as soon as you have handed in your notice- your maternity leave payments will be stoped on the day you are not employed anymore- especially when you are leaving the country. But to be honest I would check with your local AHV office (if you work in Zurich- it is SVA Zürich- if you would live in Basel, it would be Basel). They can tell you exactely what the current rule is.

I hope this helps....
Good luck!

If it's about wage payments from your employer during the 6 weeks leave, these will continue even if you live abroad (we had the same case). Kinderzulage will however not be paid.
