Paid in CHF in France ?!

Hi

Am brand new to the forum - which is fab' by the way and really useful, but have what may well be a really silly question.

My partner is in very early discussions about taking up a post based in Ferney Voltaire, but the salary package is quoted in CHF. Am I missing something, is this likely to be right? Really CHFs rather than Euros, as we'd be technically living and working in France.

Re: Paid in CHF in France ?!

Ferney Voltaire is considered part of the greater city of Geneva by quite a few folks, thus it is not that surprising to see them do stuff in CHF. (though it is a bit odd due to taxes etc)

Thanks for that. Is there any advantage that your aware of to being paid in CHFs rather than Euros (that we're probably missing)? Or is it more likely just to complicate matters for us?

Is it a Swiss company? My husband is paid in American dollars because he works for an American company.

No - not that I'm aware of. Its a very small outfit, which as far as I can tell has always been based in Ferney Voltaire.

Re: Paid in CHF in France ?!

They probably anticipate a drop in the value of the Swiss franc, just as some companies wanted to pay some of their employees in Euro last year.

In France employees enjoy a good level of protection and thus it should not happen.
