Swiss unruffled by EU blue card?

I don't think they realize that they are falling behind other EU members and already have a serious shortage of skilled people.

Well i don't know if they are falling short or not but i do know that this will give some wider options for Non-EU's who are looking to stay in Europe for long term.

here is one example - the watch manufacturing industry (but the source is not the best and i will update it), and judging by the number of foreign phds/professors in switzerland there is a shortage in this area (anectdotal evidence only at this point). A more general report on swiss labour shortages from credit-suisse and a bit more from the same source. Here is a reference to an academic article Afonso, Alexandre, Immigration and Its Impacts in Switzerland, Mediterranean Quarterly - Volume 15, Number 4, Fall 2004, pp. 147-166. If you really want to see what a labour shortage is - take a look at Alberta (a province in Canada).

there is also a growing shortfall of trained doctors, was reported on SF1 Tagesschau that by 2010 expectation is 15% plus will be foreign.
