Thanks for the comments guys....

No-one is signing the consent form but it looks like there are deeper issues TBH as we have not been paid.

Time to look for another job I think.

To be honest, 'leaving' will send the best message anyway.

....... before you go, I'd suggest having a bit of 'fun' with the camera though.

a) Organise all of the employees, to just 'freeze'...... for long periods of time (while walking or whatever, but at the same time) so the boss thinks the camera is broken.

b) When everyone leaves the office (say for lunch) have someone dress up as a Ghost, Yetti, or Scuba Diver, and just walk through the office.
b.2) Dress up someone anyway, and have all employees ignore him. When the boss asks, just say "What are you talking about?", if he shows the video just say "nope, don't see it, what are you on about?"

c) mount a flat screen TV in front of the camera with looped footage of the "Mars rover"

d) Stand in front of the camera with a box labelled "X-Ray vision" and a fake lens glued to the front of it. Stand obstructing the view of the office, and fit the box to the camera....... meanwhile, everyone can strip down to their bra's and undies and carry on work as though nothing is wrong.

There is no need for a camera in the workplace, unless of course you work at a Coop or something where the camera is there to catch out thieves etc.

Re: CCTV at work

Oh just a thought. Maybe the boss wants to get rid of you ALL, and came up with this idea? So you all leave voluntarily? You get no unemployment benefits if YOU resign. Just saying.

Re: CCTV at work

Not going to resign.

I heard you can send a registered letter demanding salary within 7 days and if not paid by then you can legally walk and get your notice + back pay.

So many rumours it's hard to know what is and isn't true

Looked like another crap xmas on the cards, I broke my shoulder on 22nd December last year and had to have my turkey and stuffing fed to me by my x-wife

CV update time

Hi Mikee .... I just found some news for you!

CCTV surveilance in the workplace is VERBOTEN!

In the Unia news - a sort-of "Union" type newspaper, there`s an article on just this problem.

No surveillance of workers or their computer monitors is allowed. If it is deemed necessary, then the camera may make a couple of still photos per day, but no "moving" film.

Am Arbeitsplatz verboten sind:
*Kameras, die Sie konstant bei der Arbeit filmen;
*Aufnahmegeräte, mit denen Gespräche zwischen Ihnen und Ihren Kollegen und Kolleginnen augenommen werden;
* eine ständige Abhörung des Telefons;
*Programme, die konstant die Aktivitäten auf Ihrem Computer aufzeichenen.

Erlaubt sind dagegen (solange damit nicht das Personal überwacht wird und der Einsatz verhältnismässig ist):
*Kameras ausserhalb der Gebäude, bei Eingängen, Durchgängen und Parkplätzen;
*Kameras bei gefährlichen Maschinen, in Tresorräumen, bei gefährlichen Gütern;
*Überwachungen aus Sicherheitsgründen;
*sporadische, kurzzeitige Überwachungen;
*angekündigte Telefonaufnahmen zur Qualitätssicherung und Schulung.

General gilt:

What can you do when you are filmed at work?

"Melden Sie sich bei der Unia and beziehen Sie den Arbeitsinspektor ein."

UBRIGENS: (This part I got my Swiss colleague to interpret into English because it is important to understand!)....... Even if you have signed a work contract stating that you agree to have film surveillance at work, it is illegal, and is NOT ALLOWED, by law.
