need advise ---> looking for work as a patissier in geneva.

Hi there!

My girlfriend is a patissier with several years experience as a patissier in France, she is French and we live near Geneva in Annemasse, so we are frontaliers....

I work as a swimming teacher in Geneva, found work within a week and started 2 weeks later....it has been 4 months since we've been looking for work for her, she's had a 2 week contract with Manor, Geneva, as a patissier which went well, but nothing else, since April. We send CV's and motivation letters, but either we hear nothing, OR we get a letter within the week saying they are not looking for someone (for Migros, Coop, etc). I keep on looking online but there is nothing.

I need a change of plan, does anybody have an idea as to how we can succeed in getting heard? I want so much for her, she deserves the same opportunities that I've had, it's only fair, but I am loosing faith in our methods. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks everybody!

David

Migros and Coop patisserie is all factory stuff. I would suspect that most patissiers work in hotels and upscale restaurants.

Why doesn't she look at the local ones near her in France? Is her education recognized in Switzerland?

Also as other have said most of the big shops don't make anything themselves. At most they put the tray in the oven and take it out again.

She needs to make a "Flyer". Design and print it out an A5 paper with a short description of herself and contact details, and what employment she is seeking.

Then she needs to visit all the cake shops in Geneva, ask to see the manager, explain her situation and leave the Flyer with the shop keeper.
