Registering an au pair agency

Hello Everyone

Happy to have found this forum, and I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.

I'm a British woman currently working in Germany. I run a small nanny and au pair agency, and am thinking of relocating to Basel. However, I heard that all agencies in Switzerland need to be registered with the Swiss authorities. My agency is just a "matching service", so at present, I match families and au pairs, provide support etc, but all the legal paperwork is their responsibility. If I understand correctly, it is quite different in Switzerland?

Who should I contact with regards to finding out more about this? Is there anyone here who knows anything about the registration process etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!.

With Thanks

Re: Registering an au pair agency

We used to run a small agency in the UK. What is the nature of your business, match UK nationals to Switzerland and Swiss nationals to the UK. Remember in Switzerland au pairs have to be placed in families who come from another cultural background, so you cannot for example place UK nationals with a UK family based in Switzerland. You could place for example UK nationals in Germany and German nationals in the UK, based in Switzerland without a licence. I would start with the British Embassy in Switzerland or the British / Swiss Chamber of Commerce. How good is your German?
