Swiss resident can I work for a UK company in France?

I want to do some part time work in the Ski Season for a French company who employ mostly UK staff and pay through the PAYE system in the UK even though it's a French contract and working in France.

I will still be resident and working in Switzerland while doing this.

Can I work on a UK contract in France while being Swiss resident and employed in Switzerland?

I've have done a search, but can't find this situation, so would be useful to find if anyone has done this or knows what is involved.

Thanks

If it's part time work you can do what you want, unless your employer objects I cant see an issue.

My Swiss employer has no problem with it, I'm just not sure about how the pay/taxes will work and what I need to do regarding telling tax offices etc...

I guess some tax will be deducted as source, unless your self employed. If you are just register after the event when you know how much you have earned & if you need to register or not.

Fill in a tax return & voila!

So do I need to declare it to the Swiss tax office or just pay tax on the part time work to the UK tax office?

Define 'need', your supposed to, it's up to you if you do so.

I suspect your UK tax deducted will exceed any CH liability, so nothing to loose by doing so.

I _think_, but have no supporting evidence, that you can only work on a UK contract if you're resident in the UK. Such working conditions are, IMO, a little dodgy anyway, but are predicated on the temporary, usually seasonal, nature of the work involved, and therefore assume that the UK continues to be your real residence through the contract.

I'd look into asking them to make it a local contract rather than a UK one - most ski schools, tour operators and similar should be able to do this as they'll often employ _some_ staff, and indeed quite often have staff who do in fact live in France full time. But they may just be getting away with bending rules for all I know.

France is cracking down on this - unless you are actually UK resident while working for a French company, brace yourself for the French coming after you for back tax and social security contributions (and possibly a fine). The employers will wash their hands of this, as they will insert a clause into the contract whereby you declare to be a UK resident.

Ask for a French law contract.

Re: Swiss resident can I work for a UK company in France?

you can live in switzerland and work for a UK company, i do that. you pay some tax in the UK and some tax Switzerland. there is a dual tax treaty so you don't pay double the amount of tax but rather it is shared between the 2 countries. you need to do a tax form in switzerland for this. how you manage it when then including france in the picture i have no idea! It sounds like a pretty complicated arrangement. good luck with that bit.
