Single/married tax issue

Hi,

I will start working in Zurich in the next couple of days. My wife is abroad and she will join me if all things go well in the next couple of weeks.

I was told by my HR department that my tax initially will be deducted on the basis of being a single person rather than a married man. They say this will change when my wife joins me later on. Is that correct?

I think your martial status should not depend on such a situation but please correct me if I am wrong. Is there any Swiss law describing such a situation?

Re: Single/married tax issue

Maybe it matters that she is not living here quite yet?
