need some advice on finding a job in Accounting/ Finance

Hello everyone

I need some advice on finding a job in Switzerland. I have been studying for ACCA(Association of Chartered Certified Accountant) for years and have passed several of the papers, and now I want to find a job or internship in Finance/ Accounting. However, due to the lack of experience and language (I do not speak German well), it appears to be difficult, and I am not studying in a university, so it is difficult to find an internship as well. And the worse thing is that some agents even asked me what ACCA is, so I am thinking maybe the certification is not so much recognized in this country? My friend suggested me to take another degree in Finance so that I could go for an internship during my study, but it would take several years again, and I am not young any more. Could anybody give some suggestions for a start of career in Switzerland?

Hello Vinna,
do you know if is going to be different when ACCA is completed? I am an ACCA however I dont think that I will have better chances as in Swiss it seems that they prefer someone with local accounting degree, are you in Zug already or you are looking for a job prior going there?
regards
Alex

Try looking for a role as a Junior Accountant at an international
company. Your degree and qualifications are much more likely to
be recognized.

If you have more than 3 years of experience, then apply
for the Senior position.

It does help your chances if you are already here though.

Hi, Alex, I just saw your reply, and it was from last year..Yes, I am already in Switzerland, and currently I am studying German. It has been 1 year since I moved here, however still, I have no luck.. So I decide to take a degree course in Finance here. and hopefully there will be something going on.

Hi, I have tried, but it seems all the junior job requires experience as well...

For you to get job in Accenture Switzerland, German is really important. I am current Accenture employee but was employed in some other country. I wanted an internal movement in Accenture Switzerland as my wife was selected for a Swiss Project. However, tough luck as I spoke no German. I've spoken to HR & Recruiting Staff here and trust me without German, anything in Accenture Switzerland is really tough.

Cheers.

German will help you more than an extra degree. Keep an eye on websites of/ write to all the international companies in the area.

It`s not easy for a non german speaker.

Connections are important to. If you know some people at said international companies that is probably most useful of all.
