Can my wife start working after submitted her employment contract to BECO?

Hello everyone! Hope I can find out answer from anyone who has the same situation.

My wife (with B permit) and I submitted her employment contract to the Gemeinde on May. But until now still no news or official letter from them if she should start working.

Her boss said they called every related department and said her permit don't need to wait any official letter to start working, can just start working straightaway after she had submitted the emplyment contract and a BECO form so is it true?

Your answer is much appreciated!!

I guess it is not a problem for EU nationals to commence work ahead of receipt of the permit ( Malaysian = non-EU ).

If your wife has had the go-ahead that she can work from "every related department", why do you think someone on this forum will tell you any different? Or did I misunderstood your post?

To enter CH, you both are visa-exempt. To work, you would need a permit ( combi of residence and work ).

Visa-free entry
Holders of a national passport of Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Japan or Taiwan are entitled to a visa-free entry to Schengen countries for stays of up to 90 days, provided that no employment is being pursued. However, holders of a Certificate of Identity on the other hand do require a visa for Switzerland.

Pretty much like your case

Re: Can my wife start working after submitted her employment contract to BECO?

Sorry didn't write clearly..

The boss said they called, BUT the Gemeinde gave us a different answer. Gemeinde said don't start before the letter. so we were very confused. ;(

We want to make sure and double confirm if it is really okay to start working and didn't break any law. As what we were told, she needs to wait for the official letter from the authority.

Do you know which departments we should call?

Re: Can my wife start working after submitted her employment contract to BECO?

Is this letter by any chance named "Zusicherung der Aufenthaltsbewilligung " ??

Alternatively, this office might be responsible for that letter:

http://www.awa.zh.ch/internet/volksw...ttstaaten.html

Office of Economics and Labour (AWA)
Walchestrasse 19
Postfach
8090 Zurich
Tel: 043 259 26 26
Fax: 043 259 51 04

EDIT: For BE

I think you misunderstood, this information did not come directly to them from that authorities, the employer told them - I'd say he is right in trying to find a second source....
