Hello English Forum!

I started my career in HR as a consultant, specializing in recruiting temp employees and the occasional permanent placement.

Currently, I'm working as an international headhunter (specialized in IT roles). Based in Lausanne, my clients include many of the multinational companies based in the Vaud/Geneva area. Feel free to ask me anything. I'll try to answer you the best I can.

Disclaimer: The goal of this thread is to help you understand the recruitment process in Switzerland, give you the tools you need to find a job and hopefully point you in the right direction.

I will NOT:

1) Give out confidential company/client details
2) Accept spontaneous CV applications
3) Re-write your CV
Hello everybody,
very interesting thread and thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge!
I have been working in Swiss Romande for few years and I made the mistake to move abroad. After being told by my wife zillion of times that life in Swiss Romande is better, i am now exploring career opportunities between GVA and Lausanne, in the digital/ecommerce field. I am quite senior and, although checking the usual websites like jobup, monster, etc. I cannot find anything, maybe because all higher level jobs are probably not publicly posted.
Do you happen to know some headhunters that are specialized in this field (if not yourself)?
Thank you in advance for any suggestion you may have.
Regards,
Tom

Re: I'm a International Headhunter based in Lausanne. Ask me anything.

Hello,

So I'm having this issue/ problem. I keep sending job applications on a daily basis and finally I got called for a job interview with a big organization in Zurich. We had a 15 minute interview on the phone and after some days they called me to agree on the interview date at their headquarters. They also told me that the interview will be a group interview as they needed 3 persons. So my question is: Has anyone experienced such type of interview here in Switzerland? How is it? What am I supposed to know beforehand? Do you have and tips? (It is an office assistant job).

Hope you will enlighten me a bit until the interview date which will be in 3 weeks time.

Thanks

Re: I'm a International Headhunter based in Lausanne. Ask me anything.

Hello HH,

Just Brief intro, I'm basically coming over to Germany on Job Seeker visa ( EU Blue card scheme) Since I have a close friend living in Zurich SHe has been asking me to also visit her in Zurich to look for Jobs.

regardless of being a tourist in Zurich I think I can still apply fro job and attend interviews and ask the employers to process the visa for me ( In case if they find my skills very special )

My question is , Since My main location of residence in Frankfurt and I will be using my German Number, Do you think it is a good idea to state my German mobile number for my Resume while applying jobs in Switzerland?

Also is it better to state my friends Zurich residence address for resume ?

Thanks

Tell the truth. (German mobile; German address). It's so much easier and it would anyway look a bit odd if you had a Swiss address without a permit.

Thanks. One more question Normally in Switzerland do employers ask the chosen candidate for medical certs ? to evaluate on health and drug intakes?

Is it mandatory ?

Thanks.

God, I hope not.

I haven't worked for a big company in ages. My (tiny) company certainly doesn't. When I joined a big bank here about 15 years ago, I had a cursory medical with their doctor (no drug screening, though).

I'm sure other people can more give recent experiences.

I think it's still the norm in 'big companies' to carry out a very simple medical. But it's after you've got the job and there is no 'drug screening'. I think it's more a formality as they'll be taking out a life insurance policy on your behalf.
