Overlapping between last date and joining date - Any possible issues ?

Dear All,

Tried to search this forum but could not find any specific thread with exact situation.

I recently joined a swiss bank after working for an indian IT service provider for more than 12 years. I was already working for this bank as a consultant through indian IT comp since last 5 year and bank recently offered me parmanent job and transition was all smooth except one minor issue which is my new employer asked me for joining date and after discussing with my indian management I confirmed joining date and signed employment contract so far so good.

My onboarding process started and also completed where as my indian company came back and asked me to serve the notice period. After negotiations they agreed to relieve me from two day after the joining date which I had already accepted and signed my contract. this also went well and I took comp off for 3 days and started with new employer as per my joiing date so my official relieving date from old employer is two days after I joined new company.

The trouble now is that as per the process I have to submit my relieving letter and reference letter from my previous employer which I have but with date which is already two days after current joining date.

I have already explained this to HR and now waiting for their response but I am now worried if this could create some issues considering that same time one cannot be employed to two companies.

Could someone here kindly share their experience on this. Could this create some trouble for me. BTW It has been few months already on my new job.

Thank you for your help and support always

IG

I can't see why it would cause a problem ?

It's quite possible to be given a 'notice period' with a former employer, and sign up with a new one before the contract official end date, if the former employer releases you from the need to turn up to work....

Still can't see why it would cause a problem. Your explanation is quite simple, and makes sense, and matches with your paperwork. Surely that is enough to keep everything clear (and especially as you've already been in the new job for several months)...

Shouldn't be a problem. I was employed by my old company for 4 months (notice period had not expired, but i was released from work, and permitted to work elsewhere as long as it was not a competitor) after I started with my current employer.

Dont worry, its not at all a problem. 2 days can easily be excused. I know guys who overlapped more than 2 weeks and are doing good.

All the best for your new assignment.

For those with a complete sense of humor bypass - and an inability to use google

Life of Brian
Brian: What will they do to me?
Ben the Prisoner: Oh you'll probably get away with crucifixion.
Brian: CRUCIFIXION?
Ben the Prisoner: Yeah, first offense.

(I know, it is my own fault for posting a quote from a hugely famous movie, with 2 smilies. I'm not the messiah, I am a very naughty boy.)
