Better Way of Working

In my opinion the business world is at a tipping point. There simply has to be a better way of working. I am wondering if anyone else feels this way. If you do feel this way what are better ways of working.

Re: Better Way of Working

Hi
I feel exactly the same and I m glad not to be alone!

I think most big companies are dominated by financiers who have no interest in what they do, only money counts.

A big change is needed and I think i am not alone to think this way. We need to reward those who work hard and innovate, not those who do not take any risk and do not innovate. I am a big fan of Thomas Minder and believe it is big step in the right direction that his initative has been accepted.

We need ethics back. Think about Migros, this is quite amazing that a big business can decide not to sell cigarettes and alcohol but they believe, quite rightly, that it would be morally wrong to do so. Wow...

They also manage very well without overpaying their managers, because their managers love what they do and the ethics behind, unlike the assholes in the banks and pharmas

Odd then that Migros sells alcohol online. Odd then that Migros franchises all sell alcohol. Odd then that Denner sells alcohol. Odd then that all Migros outlets have a kiosk next door.

Duttweiler would turn in his grave if he saw the way his dream has been ruined by unprincipled managing.

I'm sort of inclined to agree to an extent. Certainly I know an awful lot of people in their early 40s who are either burning out or deciding that the rat race ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Re: Better Way of Working

I don't understand this thread. What is "a better way of working"?

And what's wrong with the current model?

Re: Better Way of Working

I suggest we try my revolutionary idea which I shall henceforth call bartering. I will offer you something that I am willing sell and you are willing to buy in exchange for something you are willing to sell and I am willing to buy. If we have this magical double coincidence of wants, we can exchange. This is a better way of working imho.

Alternatively, we can take this one step further: we can base the value of our goods on something of worth, lets say gold for example. However, gold is not highly divisible or portable. I know, lets create something which I will term "currency". We can then exchange our goods and services in amounts that reflect the value of this "paper money". Hmmm, in retrospect I dont think you will see this as a better way of working now I come to think of it.

I have a couple of other ideas, but they are currently works in progress - I think I will call them feudalism or communism.

Actually fk all that nonsense. Meeting down the boozer is definitely a better way of working.

Re: Better Way of Working

Learn (and mean it), when enough money is enough.
More time should be used to foster family ties, kinship, friendship, neighbourliness and civicness in our too-fast-too-furious lifestyle.

Managers who advocate such a quick paced lifestyle should be deported back to New York, London or Singapore. And banned from returning to Switzerland.

Time is precious, live it like it is your last day. Work is just another dirty 4-letter word.

Have you done or said something nice to your other half, your family, your friends? Why not do it now?

There is. It's called winning the lottery. I'm just having a bit of trouble putting it in operation though.

New? These methods have been around for at least 20 years its just that large IT companies are only just waking up that the custormer is sick of paying for the non delivery of what they requested

That takes me back. I used to see that in the 90s while taking the S-Bahn to Glattbrugg. (Can you guess who I was working for...?)

I always used to think there should be another rule: Calculate the length you need to fit the words before you start painting...
