RAV benefits after a break
I intend to call the original RAV office I was signed up with, but they are a bit intimidating. Here is my scenario:
I was on RAV for about 100 of the 400 or so days. I left for family reasons, which are now no longer applicable, to a non EU country, and they "closed" my file. I would like to return to an EU country, maybe not Switzerland. I think I can find a job before I go or get one quickly once there. I would feel more comfortable going without a job if I could have a backup by signing up with the local unemployment office for help.
The paper I have says my benefits were approved for X amount until October 2013 up to the 400 days. Was that only for when I was still active in the RAV system? I think if I returned to Switzerland I could get benefits again. Or am I wrong? I know that you can get 3 months at a lower rate if you go to an EU country but the info I have on that is a direct transfer while on benefits. Since I voluntarily took a break - did I lose all rights to benefits?
I could make the move on my own funds for a few months, but if I don't get a job right away, I might need the benefits. Maybe I'm just risk averse. Let me know if I am crazy in a nice way. Thanks.
