HR question...notice period!

Dear all,

This is an easy question I know ;-)

I have three months notice.... So if I resign before 31st of July, when would be my last working day?

31st October. If you want an earlier out, you might be able to negotiate with your employer. For example, one friend wanted to leave his job before the 3 months. Beacuse his employer was able to find a competent replacement for him, he was able to leave once he had handed his tasks over to the new guy.

Two things here.

1. Although it is very common it is not an absolute requirement that your contract termination is till the end of the month. It is possible to have this from the day it is given.

2. How much holiday entitlement do you have? Can you also take unpaid leave. This is often possible for the last week or two if requested.

With this information you can calculate your last working day.
