Accounting qualifications: ACCA vs. CIMA

HiForumers!

What accounting qualification is more recognizable in the Switzerland: CIMA or ACCA?

I understand the difference between those two; my question is which one is more respectful and recognizable in the Switzerland?

Thank you

Re: Accounting qualifications: ACCA vs. CIMA

Depends on what you want to do with it. If you're looking to pursue a career in auditing / accounting, go with ACCA. If you are looking for a career in budgeting / forecasting / strategy / consulting, go with CIMA.

They're both good qualifications and worth having, but as it's name suggests, CIMA is more geared towards a career on the management side of a business, while ACCA is more geared towards a career in compliance and accounting.

ACCA is Boring and CIMA seems more interesting.

I'm thinking of changing my part qualified ACCA to CIMA.

Does ACCA more quantitative and CIMA more theoretical (leadership, management, strategy)?

Re: Accounting qualifications: ACCA vs. CIMA

If I was hiring I would give equal weighting to the qualifications. I think they are both broad enough in terms of syllabus and I have worked with enough strong/weak qualified people from both...

In terms of overall recognition of either in Switzerland, hard to say...

I agree with the above and would say they are both recognizable and have equal weighting in Switzerland

I agree with Village Idiot. If you want to work for PWC etc ACCA for sure. If you want to work in a business supporting function CIMA.
