Employing non Swiss Painters/Carpenters

Hello, i will shortly be moving to Zug and require some built in cupboards and decorating. The quotes i have received from Swiss tradesmen and unbelievably high . I therefore want to bring across some self employed Uk carpenters and decorators to do the work for me. It should take no more than a week to complete.

Can anyone tell me if they have done something similar and what is required (if anything) by the Swiss authorities

Usually tradesmen need to hold a recognised qualification, registered for VAT and have a work permit.

How about a bit of DIY ?

However if you wish to bring over some distant relatives to help you, will anyone know about it? Be careful of the noise regulations.

Or use one of the tradesmen/handymen here on EF who will usually be cheaper than an eidgenössisch diplomierte anything, thereby saving you money (win) and helping them make a living here (win)
