RAV - baby sick = RAV meeting

Scenario:
My baby is sick/fever (nursery just called). Tomorrow I have an appointment with my RAV Beamterin. I will not be able to bring him to the Krippe because of the fever, our on/off babysitter can not do it and I refuse to leave him with a stranger or new babysitter.
I am thinking to email my unfriendly Beamterin and explain her briefly the situation and offer her to go this afternoon or on another day.
Is it possible? Do you get days off if your children are sick? You do when you are employed…

Thanks

Take the baby with you to the meeting?

That's what I would do.

Re: RAV - baby sick = RAV meeting

I would email and ask whether it is appropriate for you to bring your baby to the meeting, or if they prefer to reschedule this meeting to another day. I would also be quite clear that normally your child is at krippe, but due to fever they are not able to attend krippe tomorrow.

Re: RAV - baby sick = RAV meeting

Well I am not keen on bringing an 11 months old sick baby too a meeting …I would not bring him to a job interview either. Babies are unpredictable and even more when they are unwell. I can barely understand my advisor (my German is not good) so no chance with a baby in the office.
Is anything in the RAV regulations about days off when kids are sick?
My partner's employees can take by law 2-3 days off when they kids are sick...

Re: RAV - baby sick = RAV meeting

I assume that this is a hypothetical situation and you're just finding out what the as usable course of action would be given that we're Saturday today and I find it highly unlikely that you have a RAV meeting on a Sunday.

I wouldn't think it was appropriate to take a sick child with you and would contact the advisor at the earliest opportunity and ask to reschedule the appointment. Send an email in the evening if necessary so that she reads it when she gets to work and follow it up with a phone call just to be on the safe side.

If you have a partner who can take time off when they have a sick child, then why can't they come home for an hour while you nip to the RAV?

Otherwise I would call and explain the situation and reschedule. I was very surprised after reading all the RAV posts on here, to find that my RAV contact was a personable, approachable human being! I was expecting an absolute nightmare.

Re: RAV - baby sick = RAV meeting

OP, what did you do?

I had RAV meetings during my maternity leave, when my child was too young to be brought to a Krippe. I brought her with me, and did not have any issues. If any of the three were sick now and I had such short notice, I'd probably bring them with me, along with a note from the Krippe explaining that they weren't able to come in due to illness.
