is it this job scam?

Hi senior members,

I applied for a junior position through indeed.ch and received the below email:

Dear candidate,

Congratulations! You have been selected for the next step of the selection for the position in a well-known international trading company in Geneva. At this stage, the name of our client stay confidential and will be release after the next step.

The next step of the process is to do a personality test in order to get the face-to-face interview in Geneva. This examination is provided by our company, it must be fulfill by the condidate alone and the deadline is November 30, 2014. The cost of the tes is CHF 54.- and will be reimbursed if you get the face-to-face interview with our client.

At this stage, you are only 10 candidates to to selected for the personality test and only 5 candidates will have the chance to get the face-to-face interview in Geneva.
Therefore, please advise us as soon as possible if you are ready to do the personality test.

We stay at your disposal for any further information.
Kind regards,

Though they claim they founded since 1989 in London, what I think it looks weird:
1. they asked for CHF54 payment through paypal (in another email)
2. they have a basic website with no contact info (No address, No phone)
3. the contact person uses gmail instead of business email

If I don't pay, I will loss this opportunity. What should I do?

Thanks.

100% scam. Stay away. Do not send money. Delete email.

Good luck with your job search.

Thanks for your quick response. I am still wondering: is it that easy to post a scam on indeed.ch?

It must be, because this is 100% a scam.

Yes, absolutely a scam. The poor English in the email you received is one surefire sign of a scam; the Gmail address is another; and the request to send money (via any method) is a third sign. In Switzerland, a candidate should never have to pay for a job search, especially at more junior levels.

Do others a favour, and report the advertiser to indeed.ch.

We get this crap all the time at our online auctionshouse and delete them mercilessly.
The uncertainty of the OP shows just how easy it is to fraud people out of a lot of money.

What kind of international trading company would be so cheap they would even ask applications to fund part of the recruitment process? Even if were not a scam and you were successful in your application, you may wish you hadn't been.

Total scam, poor English, request for payment, do not reply and delete.

It is possible the scammers put up the job post, or they hacked an existing post. Both ways still a scam.

Good luck with your job search.

Well, it's complicated. I should feel happy coz I don't loss CHF54..... with a little depression that this is one of the only 2 positive answers out of my 30+ applications.

It's horrible to look for an entry-level job with a Swiss master degree.
like UBS & Credit Suisse graduate program or even internships always give negative answers even though the post does not require French/German!

And sadly you are their perfect target. A little hope when searching for a job comes by and common sense goes out the window.
