| | Any non-EU success story in IT?
Hello all,
I'm a non-EU software engineer with 2 years experience and have skills in Java,C#, web development, SQL. As I have dependent L permit I'm not even getting any interview call
I heard that when I get dependent B permit ( dec 2015, after 2 years of my husband's L permit) ; I'll have right to work. So now I'm waiting for that and in the meantime practicing programming more.
I'm in frustration and just want to hear some success story or any tips/advice.
Thanks in advance
Sultana

Sultana | | | | | With dependent B, it took 4-6 months for my wife to find a job with almost the skills you have given.
With dependent L, things get a bit difficult with permit.
What we have seen is that you need a permit already in hand to get some interview calls.
That being said, your case can be different.
Just keep trying, you will find something for sure.
Also, German skills are important, try to spend some of your time to learn or improve your German skills.
All the best.

Are you currently allowed to work?
From what I understand there is no guarantee he will get a B.

We think he can get B permit from dec,2015,is not it? |

Are you sure you are not getting interviews because of the L permit? Do you have to state in your applications what kind of permit you have? If you will be getting your B, could you not state you will, and when?

by the way, is it allowed to work remotely for a company abroad in your situation? That can give you more options.

Sometimes L's can be issued for 3 or even 4 years before a B is issued so there's no guarantee.
The problem is that an employer has to get authorization from the Swiss authorities to be able to hire you while you have an L permit so many are not going to bother to do that when they can find people who already have a B permit. In law, the same condition is supposed to apply to non-EU dependent B permits as well, but they've decided not to implement that condition so if you can get a B permit and find an employer it should be easy to add the work part to the residence side of the permit.

Sultana | | | | | I think job search gets a little easier in Switzerland after you get B Permit . There are many people here who managed to change to B permit so it will happen with time. Being a non-eu I managed to find a job in IT less than 2 months after i got B permit. The technology that i work for is in demand at the moment so that really helped.
Its worth putting on your resume that you are awaiting Permit B if that helps. Atleast people would call you for first round interviews and it will give you an idea where you stand with employers technical expectations.

No point really if she has at least a year or more to go before qualifying for a B. Employers aren't going to wait that long, no matter how good your qualifications/experience is.

Your experience is inspiring and tips are good. Really if I get some phone interview call, that will help me mentally in this stage. When I sent cv, some company phoned me and their first ques is about my permit. When they hear about my permit they just drop me out |
